Autonomy for Hypersonics Mission Campaign

A4H will research and develop autonomous system technologies that will enhance the warfighting utility of hypersonic flight systems

  • Provide autonomous mission planning for rapid response to time-sensitive threats
  • Enable adaptive, highly-maneuvering vehicles that intelligently navigate, guide, and control themselves and home-in on targets to counter evasive, maneuverable threats

Research Needs:

  • Data: methods for synthetically producing/generating data sets for training, and the mathematics and tools to assure these data sets will produce robust, secure algorithms
  • Machine Learning/Artificial Intelligence: tailored ML/AI algorithms that operate on hypersonic sensor data under the constraints imposed by hypersonic strike and defense applications
  • Tailored HW Solutions: mapping ML/AI algorithms to tailored HW solutions will create novel devices that meet SWaP constraints
